Success through Cooperation
The work of the ITT has always been characterized by worldwide partnerships. This extensive network is also the basis for an international and reciprocal transfer of knowledge at the Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems.
Since its foundation in 1978, the ITT has built up an active network of partners. It includes universities, research institutes, institutions from the public and private sectors as well as development and cooperation facilities all over the world. This makes it ideal for exchanging knowledge and working on joint research projects.
The Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems benefits from these established ITT networks. Findings and knowledge from the living labs in different parts of the world can be transferred to other regional contexts. This brings regional activities to the global level – and creates an international exchange of knowledge.
Practical orientation
The many companies involved in ITT projects also give us a head start in applied research. We ensure the exchange with stakeholders from the field through our former students who now work in the sustainable management of natural resources. The growing alumni network currently consists of over 1200 experts from around 65 nations.
CNRD: International knowledge exchange
In 2009, the ITT initiated the Centers for Natural Resources and Development (CNRD), a global network of universities to promote academic exchange and cooperation in the management of natural resources. The CNRD focuses on water, land, ecosystems, renewable energy resources and climate change. With an interdisciplinary and international approach, it connects partners from different regions and with different professional backgrounds. The CNRD currently has around 34 members from 28 countries.
AGEP: Global Minds, Local Impact - Developing the leaders of tomorrow
AGEP (German Association of Postgraduate Programmes with special Relevance to Developing Countries) is an association of over 50 German postgraduate programs in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, regional, environmental and agricultural sciences as well as social sciences, economics and human medicine. All programs are united by the mission to promote sustainable development in the countries of origin of the participants and to train students to become change agents in the sense of the SDGs. The degree programs of the Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems (NRM, REM, IWRM) are part of the AGEP network.
