Studying in Vietnam

TLU offers the Master's programs IWRM and NRM developed by the ITT (Faculty of Spatial Development and Infrastructure Systems) in Hanoi. The faculty is involved in teaching at the partner universities.

Study achievements that you acquire at the partner university can be credited at TH Köln. All modules offered, especially the subject-specific modules, focus on specific challenges and conditions in Southeast Asia and Vietnam. Where possible, student projects take place in the context of real problems (real laboratories) on site. Excursions in the region will give you a good insight into current processes and developments in Vietnam.

Field research and Master's thesis in Vietnam

There are numerous opportunities to carry out your Master's thesis or field research in the context of various local projects, which are coordinated by the Vietnamese partners. As a rule, you will be accompanied and advised by a supervisor from TH Köln and TLU. During your field stay in Vietnam, the partner will support you in all scientific and administrative matters. Of course, it is also possible to carry out your field research directly after your study visit in Vietnam.

Internship in Vietnam

If you would like to do an internship in Vietnam as part of your studies or to build your profile, the partner can help you find a suitable position. An internship makes sense if you are spending an exchange semester in Vietnam. The courses are mainly held in the early evening, i.e. you can do your internship during the day.

The next step: Your way to Hanoi

Seek individual advice from the coordinator of the study program cooperation at an early stage. Get in touch at least three months before a possible exchange.

There are various options for your journey. If you have time and are adventurous, you can also travel to Vietnam by land.

Life in Hanoi

Hanoi is a very large, lively and dynamic city. It has many interesting, exciting and varied things to offer. Vietnamese food is famous, there are many cultural events - from pop culture to traditional events.

But the city is also exhausting: air pollution, noise, traffic jams and density, as well as the climate in general and the weather in particular pose some challenges.

However, there are many small and large oases to escape to. The surrounding area is also relatively easy and inexpensive to reach by public transport. In Hanoi and other large cities, as well as at tourist destinations, you can get by with English. This is more difficult in the countryside.
